Project Summary

My MFA project reimagines intimacy through soft sculpture and performative self-portrait photography, in the creation of an immersive installation. I engage play, performativity, and fluidity in my queer methodology for reconstructing the phenomenon. Through embodied practice, these strategies facilitate alternative experiences of time, space, and relationality which challenge the constraints of learned Western heteronormativity. This project brings autobiographical reflections into conversation with the theory of affective intimacies, phenomenology, and a queer methodology to cultivate an expanded and imaginative personal relationship with intimacy.
